Greetings! and Welcome to 1ST Fan

I'm ready to experience the FURY of Arena Football, are you??

My name is Joseph Martyn Lenard, and I'm the Founder of 1ST Fan, and I've been waiting a long time for the honor to do so. Why? Well I am a big fan of Arena Football and was a Detroit Drive Season Ticketholder from 1988-1993, all 6 years the Drive was in existance. I've been waiting rather impatiently for the AFL's return to Detroit since then.

If you're wondering where the "1ST Fan" name comes from, wonder no more...

If you've been around Arena Football for awhile you might've heard this story, so I'll keep it short. Basically, I was the first to purchase Detroit Drive tickets back in May of 1987 (that's no typo). During the first full scheduled ArenaBall season I called the League office to find out about expansion plans and found out that Detroit would have a team for the second (1988) season. I had to call several times, and ultimately had to insist that the Marketing Manager take my name and number for when they would be informed about the team they would be having, as they knew nothing about it. They treated me wonderfully once they found out I knew before they did!!! It was great.

Once the Drive was gone (not really, the franchise went through Massachusetts, was idle for awhile, and is now in Grand Rapids Michigan - a long story that I'll save you the details on) - where was I, yes, once the Drive left I had to follow the AFL via a DirecTv Dish until I purchased Season tickets to the Grand Rapids Rampage for their first (1998) and second (1999) years. In fact Arena Football means a great deal more to me than most, for if it were not for Arena Football I would have never met my wife, as it was at a Grand Rapids Rampage game that I met Rhonda, a match made in AFL heaven (Hopeless Romantics can get those details, including the embarassing stuff, here). That brings us to 2000 and a new team - the DETROIT FURY!

Things have now become a little more complicated, as the Fury start has been delayed to 2001 due to Player issues (see Archived news ). None the less, it has been (will be) worth the wait.

Keep your eyes on this Page for further information and a link to our Membership enrollment form, just as soon as it's available.

Arena Football - FEEL THE FURY! Coming soon to dasher boards NEAR you.
The action will be Fast and FURYous, our opponents inFURYated, the.... you get the idea!!
