WHY NOT LEGAL PROTECTION FOR ADULTERERS?

The gay community in Southeastern Michigan is up in arms over a couple of developments perceived by them as "anti-gay."

Mayor Tom McMillin of Auburn Hills is leading a fight to defeat city ordinances designed to give gays legal protection against discrimination as well as repealing such ordinances in cities that have already passed them. McMillin’s group (Oakland County Residents for Equal Rights Not Special Rights) was the deciding factor in narrowly defeating such an ordinance in Ferndale. He is now turning his attention to an ordinance proposed in Royal Oak. In the Ferndale contest, the group was financed by the large national group American Family Association.

To add fuel to the fire, Royal Oak has been experiencing above average disturbances at two liquor serving establishments frequented by gays. An obscure 1965 ordinance has been discovered (although not being enforced) that prohibits such establishments from being frequented by or become meeting places for "prostitutes, homosexuals, vagrants or any person known to engage in drugs or other illegal activities."

Gay activists want the reference to homosexuals stricken from the ordinance. No spokesperson for prostitutes has yet come forward.

Many Christians accept the Bible’s description of homosexuality as an "abomination" and oppose any laws aimed at granting social acceptance to it. But then the Bible also describes adultery as an abomination including it in the top ten of God’s laws (the Ten Commandments), where homosexuality is not. Why is there no national movement to protect adulterers from discrimination?

The obvious answer is that adultery has become, not just socially acceptable, but even glorified in soap operas, movies, and videos. Adultery needs no "protection" because there is no discrimination. Indeed, the top elected official in the land is an admitted adulterer (and probably a rapist) but maintains his popularity because people mistakenly believe he is somehow responsible for the current economic prosperity.

The president has one open homosexual in his cabinet. The first lady crusades for the United Nations Covenant on the Rights of Children, which (among other things) would lower the legal age of sexual consent to twelve. This is vigorously supported by a bunch of pedophiles organized as NAMBLA (the North American Man Boy Love Association), a rarely mentioned part of the informal gay/lesbian movement.

All of this proves that man’s effort to enforce the Bible’s code of morality with laws is doomed to failure. However, God will have the last word on that subject.
