The Truck, trailer, StripTease, ATV, and crew starting the day at Pace Makers Raceway |
| A beautiful Saturday morning in Mount Vernon, Ohio at Pace Makers Raceway for the Budweiser®/NHRA Main Event - Jegs Quick 32. At 10:30 the "StripTease" was unloaded from the trailer, which transports the StripTease to race locations, pulled by a powerful GMC® (pictured above right) truck. Time for a quick picture (right) of Kenneth (Ken) Simpson, Owner/Operator of StripTease Racing, with some of the family who participated as part of the crew for the day. Other members of the crew , not pictured, were Matt Steiner (Owner/Operator-Phantom) and Theresa Anders. | (left to right) Eric Simpson, Kenneth Simpson II, Rhonda Lenard, Kenneth Simpson (StripTease Owner/Operator) |
A quick look under the hood to verify connections are solid |
Actually, the day started a whole lot earlier. The team was up around 3AM and was packed up and on their way for the 7 hour drive from Western Michigan, Grand Rapids Michigan, to Mount Vernon, Ohio and Pace Makers Raceway. Despite the early rising and long drive, everyone was hoping for a very long day; as that would mean a productive day, and indeed it was a very productive day! |
| Superb calculation of "dial in", picture perfect starts, and dead-on execution on the track, went a long way in taking Ken and the StripTease to the semi-finals for this Independence Day weekend event. While Ken started the day in an 11th place tie in the standings, this days outing would see Ken race his way to the 7th spot and within striking distance of the next few steps up the ladder at his next outing. | Lined up and ready. A great start on the day! |
|
A look at the South side Grand Stands |
The North side Grand Stands (in picture above) stayed pretty sparse, but the crowd grew (pictured left) and enjoyed the days festivities, including a visit from Elvis and the "Elvis money drop" (see the Official Track photos links elsewhere on page). Clouds help to break up the 87 degree heat and high humidity, and provide some relief. |
|
The day came to a close in the semi-finals. Had the dial-in not been altered, this run would've been
dead-on perfect, but instead left too much of a margin (just under 1/5 second) and the day was done
at 7:30PM. Time to wrap things up and head off to the Hotel for some much deserved rest.
Take care! |
Another perfect start, but the dial-in just a little off. |
